Blade Shearing Tournament - Spring 2024

  • Fernhill Farm Cheddar Road, Compton Martin Bristol, BS40 6LD United Kingdom (map)

Blade Shearing Tournament

Our Blade Shearing Tournament will enable you to compete with many of the top blade shearers in the Northern Hemisphere as they continue their master craft in the sheep shearing shed from 10am - 5pm Sunday 17th March, with prizes for the winners of the Novice, Intermediate and Open finalists.

The Blade Tournament is being sub-divided from the Farm Open Day, Fleece Sale and Fibre Quest / Experience event to allow us to focus on what we truly believe makes us unique at Fernhill Farm - sharing skills in shepherding, blade shearing and wool sorting to add value to wool at pre-processing stages.

The Tournament day will function as a competition to raise the standard of blade shearing, judging and overall skill in representing home countries and counties, within a 4 stand shearing shed when the bright lights are upon you.

Please contact Andy on 07712616797 for more information, to book in and reserve meals and any accommodation thanks

The Mutton Club Shearers Banquet will happen again where everyone is welcome to come along in the evening and support the sheep shearing profession - this will be served in the cosy Horseshoe barn from 7pm Saturday 16th March - booking details and menu will be available soon

The Fernhill Fibre shop will be selling fleeces, craft items, yarns, felts and finished products made from our verified regenerative wool fibres. We will also have our own leather goods and meat boxes for sale from our mini farm shop here on site.

Onsite accommodation is available for shearers and wool handlers - please contact Andy

The new Fernhill Fibre Experience will be a whole day here on the farm Saturday 16th, dedicated to the public understanding of Blade Shearing, and will be a continuation of Fibre Quest and our Good Friday Fleece Sale - more details are here:
